Philly represents!
The Philadelphia music scene is certainly well represented at this year's South by Southwest Music Festival (SXSW), hosted in Austin Texas. For three days (March 12-16th) this month some of the best new talent, hailing from around the globe, convene down south to celebrate and share their awesome and diverse sounds. Some groups from Philadelphia include The Eastern Conference Champions, George Stanford, The Extraordinaires, Dr. Dog, Jim Boggia, Man Man, Mutlu, Hoots and Hellmouth, The A-Sides, The Teeth, and The Spinto Band, among others. Be sure to tune in, today, after Helen's Leicht Lunch for a live broadcast from the festival.
However, if you don't feel like heading down to Texas to hear your favorite bands, there is plenty going on this weekend (especially Saturday)...
This Saturday, March 15th, 2008 seems to be quite a day of concerts. All the following concerts are tomorrow...
If you're looking for a relaxing folk and acoustic-rock concert don't miss Trisha O'Keefe, John Faye of the rock band IKE, and Graham Brown at Burlap and Bean,
Or if you'd prefer something more along the lines of indie rock the Tin Bird Choir will be at Landhaven
John Flynn's concert at the Tin Angel will certainly have you pondering the state of our country,
and finally if you're simply looking for some urban soul check out MOKA at the Fire.
