XPN Rock Internacionale

My good friend and Y-Rock DJ Ramon (host of Y-Rock's Saturday afternoon Rock Internacionale from where this feature comes from) gave me an interesting album a few weeks back from Bajofondo, a South American music band consisting of eight musicians from Argentina and Uruguay. The band, which refers to itself as a "collective of composers, singers and artists", was formerly called Bajofondo Tango Club, but shortened the name to Bajofondo after they felt their style had broadened. Blending acoustic tango and electronic music, they are part of an evolving tango genre which is known as "Electrotango", which brought tango back into the mainstream. In a way it might be cheatin', but my favorite track on their new album features vox from Elvis Costello, although most of the guests on Mar Dulce are stars from the Latin music scene like Gustavo Cerati and Mala Rodriguez.

Here's a link to a video clip from Mar Dulce
