My Morning Download 5/7/08 - Steve Wynn

The legendary Steve Wynn recently released a new solo album called Crossing Dragon Bridge. Wynn recorded it over a three week period in Ljubljana which is in Slovenia with Chris Eckman of the Walkabouts. After the primary recording was done touches were added to include an eight-piece orchestra in Prague, a woman’s choir in Ljubljana, and some friends including Miracle Three drummer Linda Pitmon, Kirk Swan, former Green On Red's Chris Cacavas and Tim Adams of the terrific Teenage Prayers chimed in from New York, Los Angeles and Germany. The recored was mixed by Tucker Martine who has worked with the Decemberists & Laura Veirs.

It's a beautiful collection of impressionistic songs; sometimes haunting, sometimes rocking, sometimes drawn from the songwriter's handbook of bittersweet, melancholic classics. Mr. Wynn has done it again.
