Steve Earle
Steve Earle burst onto the country-folk scene in 1986 and has released a steady stream of material in the more than two decades since then. He has become known also for his liberal political views – he even contributed a song to Michael Moore’s documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 – and, most recently, as an actor on The Wire.
Earle’s Townes album, released in May, is a tribute album to the legendary Texan singer-songwriter Townes Van Zandt. As Van Zandt’s friend and protegé, Earle had an intimate musical and personal connection with Townes, after whom he even named his son (Justin Townes Earle actually makes a vocal appearance on “Mr. Mudd and Mr. Gold”).
